Principle Design Engineer - Rail

Location: London

Basic Salary: £35,000 - £ 45,000 Per Annum

Job Requirement:
My client is a rail industry leader in delivering control and communication solutions. They are currently recruiting for 3x Principle Design Engineers to be based in their Chippenham office.

Job Purpose:
To develop the scheme and check detailed design for the application of contracts and play a responsible role in the application teams workload and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop strategies, scope of works and the interface definitions for the project in conjunction with the PEM’s.
• Support the PEM by acting as a team leaders performing design and checking to a high quality.
• Liaise with client organizations to achieve approval in accordance with the required standards and procedures.
• Assist with the preparation and integration of Project principles, application specific and system engineering documentation including application manuals, method statements, work package plans etc for signalling stages.
• Provide functional support and guidance to other Design Engineers within the team on all aspects of Signal Design.
• Safety responsibility in terms of Health and Safety legislation, company procedures and standards.
• Ensure common approach adopted across work package delivery teams in respect to signalling principles.
• Process technical queries.
• Prepare technical support and guidance.

Essential Requirements:
• Member of the IRSE or other recognised professional body.
• Experience in all aspects of Signal Engineering with particular emphasis on the preparation and checking of design plans and working details.
• Good commercial awareness and knowledge of contract conditions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Hold Signalling Principles Designer (A, B, D or E.) and Signalling Design Verifier.

Desirable Requirements:
• Good time and task management skills.
• Excellent people management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of project safety requirements and contract conditions.
