Estimator - Civil Engineering

Location: West Midlands

Basic Salary: £55 - £ 70 Per Annum Car, pension, healthcare etc

Our long established client, are an industry leading company with extensive railway civil engineering and project management skills, delivering engineering excellence for a range of railway projects incorporating bridge renewals, depot facilities, station improvements, embankment stabilisation and multi discipline re-signalling schemes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Estimating department for a Senior position based in the Midlands Office to support the regional estimating function.

Responsibilities

Managing and overseeing Estimators based in the Regional Offices.

- Review other estimators tender books prior to settlement meeting, field and resolve other estimators pricing and process queries
- Assist Head of Estimating with allocating resources to tenders
- Be the Lead estimator for tenders designated as Major Projects
- Prepare subcontract & materials enquiries and review subsequent quotations
- Build up an accurate cost estimate for the permanent works in an elemental and analytical format
- Prepare & present the commercial aspects of the tender to the Heads of departments/Senior Managers for adjudication and approval
- Prepare the commercial tender for submission to the Client
- Prepare and present the commercial handover documents to the contract delivery team
- liase with construction teams to ensure output & resource data collected providing feedback for future tenders

Requirements

- Senior Estimator with min 10 years experience pricing civil engineering schemes
- Hands on experience of working in a variety of civil engineering sectors including roads/highways/railways
- A comprehensive understanding of analytical pricing of BOQs
- An appreciation of engineering techniques & their suitability
- A practical knowledge of safe methods of working
- Ability to assess site conditions from a physical inspection & interpretation of intrusive surveys & soil investigations
- Familiar with standard methods of measurement and forms of contract
- A record of securing successfully completed contracts
- Candidate ideally has working knowledge of estimating software, ideally using RIB construction suite.
- BSC or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
